Real Or Selfish Love: Which Is It?
| January 1, 2010I have to wonder, how much do we understand about love? Yes, I know we claim to know it's meaning, but do we really? About a year ago I was made aware of how little I knew about love when I heard a man teaching on it. I believe that our marriages and churches would be totally different, if we could all grasp the real meaning of love.

Little Fruit For Your Souls
| January 1, 2010Eve was a normal woman with the spirit of God as her guide. She was created to be a help mate for Adam. The weaker vessel of the two, male and female. Satan knew she was the weaker vessel so she was tempted by him.

A New Year's Resolution
| January 1, 2010I will, like Paul, forget those things which are behind and press forward.
I will like David, lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence comes my help.
I will, like Abraham, trust implicity in my God;
I will, like Enoch, walk in daily fellowship with my Heavenly Father.
A Brief Look At Peter's Life
| November 1, 2009Few people in the Bible have caught the attention of many of us, as does the apostle Peter. There were twelve apostles, yet none dominate the New Testament as much as Peter. Matthew chapter four tells us of Peter and Andrew's call from Jesus as they were fishing. They were all simple people who made a living working with their hands.

Where Art Thou?
| November 1, 2009You know the story. Adam and Eve had sinned by doing what God had specifically told them not to do. But then Genesis 3:8 says... "they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God"
God's Lovely Gift Of Marriage
| November 1, 2009Greetings, sisters in Christ! My heart feels heavy to think that some of you may be experiencing difficulties in your marriages. It's only when we've traveled the valley ourselves that we can understand and sympathize with another. Sometimes we think ''there are no answers to MY problems''! But that is far from the truth.
The Difference Between Religion And Christianity
| November 1, 2009Many are GOING TO CHURCH but few are GOING DOWN THE ROAD WHICH LEADS TO LIFE (Matthew 7:13-14). Many name the Name of Christ (2 Tim. 2:19) and claim to be Christians but few understand what a Christian really is. Many are RELIGIOUS but few are RIGHT WITH GOD.

Treating And Respecting Life: Our Responsibility
| November 1, 2009Perhaps you, like me, have often wondered at the severity of some of the comments Jesus made during His ministry. They seem to stand in stark contrast to the loving, gracious, caring, compassionate God as He is often represented. I believe this is because of a concept that has been eroded from the mindset of our culture.

Some Thoughts On Faith And Trust
| September 1, 2009Too often we hear the expression "We must go out in blind faith." Is faith really blind? Is faith limited to those who are physically blind? Do we have to be totally blind to reality to have it? What do people mean when they use the term "blind faith" and is that what the Bible teaches?

Count The Cost
| September 1, 2009The passage is ever so clear, if we want to be a follower of Christ, we must be willing to loose everything, including the people who are closest to us. If we are unwilling to do this, we will fail. And if we say, "we are a follower of Jesus, and yet are not willing to obey this command", we hinder others from following Him as well.

The Power Of A Helpmeet
| September 1, 2009Isn't it wonderful that God has assigned such a big job to us; to be ''AN HELPMEET''? I don't know 'bout you, but I feel pretty important when I think about that!! I wonder what the word ''helpmeet'' includes.
What Is The Christian Life?
| September 1, 2009Let me tell you what I believe God has been reminding me of lately... The implications of the Gospel in humans' lives are hard, very hard, in fact impossible without the grace of the Holy Spirit applying His life to ours. The Gospel means... the end of me (the death of me). I'm done... self-sacrifice... self-denial.

Searching For Real Joy
| September 1, 2009Happiness fluctuates because it has for its source the good times of life, whereas joy, in the Holy Ghost, is present in the gloomiest of circumstances. By the grace of God, we have joy. Jesus is the joy of our salvation.
How Things Work In Life
| September 1, 2009Start with a cage containing five monkeys. Inside the cage, hang a banana on a string and place a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the other monkeys with cold water.

Martin Luther: Here I Stand (Part 3 of 3)
| September 1, 2009Standing before God with Christ's Righteousness and Courage With the zeal of a missionary, I dedicated the rest of my life to telling others the good news of salvation by grace through faith. For now I knew that I stood before God with Christ's righteousness and with Christ's courage. It was such courage and zeal that led me to post my theological convictions, my 95 Theses, on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenburg, Germany on October 31, 1517.

One Million Years From Now . . .
| July 1, 2009One million years from now, what will be the only thing that will matter? Will it matter how much money you made? Will it matter how much property you owned? Will it matter that you worked 15 hours a day and neglected God and your family?

Marriages, Mistakes, and Miracles
| July 1, 2009Dear Mary, Wow, Mary, you're a married woman by now! How does it feel?? You've been on my mind all day and I finally dropped everything and grabbed a tablet and pen to scribble a couple of lines to you.

Set Up For A Blessing
| July 1, 2009When the Father prompts us to do little things, He is never trying to take anything away from us. He is always trying to set us up for a blessing.
Martin Luther: Here I Stand (Part 2 of 3)
| July 1, 2009I [Martin Luther] hungered to find assurance of my salvation. However, the rigors of the monastic life could not calm my clamoring conscience. I saw that I was a great sinner in the eyes of God and I realized how impossible it would be for me to please God on my own merits. So I fled to the merits of the saints.
The Greatest Commandment
| May 1, 2009I knew a lady several years ago that, when raising her children, would withdraw love from them as punishment. When they displeased her, she would say, "I don't love you." This was how she controlled them. This is called conditional love. I love you only if you obey me. Those children eventually grew up and the emotional problems they had made their life almost impossible.
What Does God Say About Foot Washing?
| May 1, 2009It is my hope that you have already read "Heart to Heart with Joe Keim" on page two. If you haven't, you might want to do so before reading this article on foot washing. In the March 2007 edition of the Amish Voice, we published a small article on the front page that covered foot washing
Are We Ready For The Return of Jesus Christ, Our Lord?
| May 1, 2009We are still here, but we don't know how much longer it will be before He returns. We try to live life to its fullest, and serve God in the best way we know how. So many of us have big plans for down the road; maybe plans for this year, or next year. Some of us might be saying we want to do this, or do that before it's too late.
Martin Luther: Here I Stand (Part 1 of 3)
| May 1, 2009Reformation Sunday: People know this Sunday by at least three names: Halloween, All Saints Day, and Reformation Sunday. They call it "Reformation Sunday" because on October 31, 1517, a thirty-three year old man dressed as a monk strolled to the door of the Castle Church in the small town of Wittenberg, Germany not to cry out, "Trick or Treat," but to nail to that door a parchment listing his deeply held theological convictions.
No Perfect Church
| March 1, 2009 It is related that a man once came to Charles H. Spurgeon, and asked that great preacher if his church was a pure church. He said he was looking for a pure church that he might belong to it. Mr. Spurgeon said that he did not know about his own church; but he did know that there were many good people in it-saintly people and truly Christian people.

Life Is Like Two Rails On A Railroad Track
| March 1, 2009 People ask me, what is the purpose of life? And I respond: In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven. One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body-- but not the end of me.

Who Is My Neighbor?
| March 1, 2009The following parable is probably the most well known of all parables. To many it is known as the parable of the Good Samaritan. In order to fully understand the impact on the listeners, we shall look in depth a little more.
The Time Is Nearing - Are You Ready?
| March 1, 2009This story, I believe, gives us the clear instructions about being ready for the return of Jesus. Anyone who is diligent enough to be aware of what is happening around the world today will know the time is very close for the return of Jesus. These Virgins all believed in Jesus and were waiting for His return.
Life Is Like A Treasure Hunt
| March 1, 2009How many of us have something in common? I know we as humans are all created different from each other, yet I believe we can all relate to the same thing, one way or the other. For example, we sometimes feel empty, sad, lonely, or like no one cares. It may even seem like no body wants to listen to what we have to share.
Inspiring Isn't A Big Enough Word For This Pony
| January 1, 2009Meet Molly. She's a gray speckled pony who was abandoned by her owners when Katrina hit southern Louisiana. She spent weeks on her own before finally being rescued and taken to a farm where abandoned animals were stockpiled. While there, she was attacked by a pit bull terrier, and almost died. Her gnawed right front leg became infected and her vet went to LSU for help. But LSU was overwhelmed, and this pony was a welfare case.
