THE FIVEFOLD APPEAL TO BE JUSTIFIED BY
FAITH ALONE
Galatians 4:8–5:12
Study 2: APPEAL TWO: RESTIR AFFECTION FOR THE
MINISTER OF GOD
Text: Galatians 4:12-20
Aim:
To strongly support your minister in word and deed.
Memory Verse:
Obey them that have the rule over you,
and submit yourselves: for they watch for
your souls, as they that must give account,
that they may do it with joy, and not with
grief: for that is unprofitable for
you” (He.13:17).
INTRODUCTION:
Contrary to popular opinion, your minister does not get dressed in a
phone booth and come out with a large “S” on his shirt and a
flowing cape tied at the base of his neck. Instead of leaping
buildings with a single bound, he is usually trying to keep the
building which contains the congregation from flying apart.
What is one of the most important missions of the ministers of
God? One of the most vital duties is to restore sheep that have
strayed away from the Lord.
The Fivefold Appeal to Be Justified By Faith Alone
Study 8: Galatians 4:12-20 —Teacher’s Outline and Study Bible™
B. Appeal Two: Restir
Affection for the Minister of
God, 4:12-20
12
Brethren, I beseech you, be
as I am; for I am as ye are: ye
have not injured me at all.
13
Ye know how through infir-
mity of the flesh I preached the
gospel unto you at the first.
14
And my temptation which
was in my flesh ye despised not,
nor rejected; but received me as
an angel of God, even as Christ
Jesus.
15
Where is then the blessed-
ness ye spake of? for I bear you
record, that, If it had been possi-
ble, ye have plucked out your
own eyes, and have given them
to me.
16
Am I therefore become your
enemy, because I tell you
the truth?
17
They zealously affect you,
but not well; yea, they would
exclude you, that ye might af-
fect them.
18
But it is good to be zealously
affected always in a good thing,
and not only when I am present
with you.
19
My little children, of whom I
travail in birth again until Christ
be formed in you,
20
I desire to be present with
you now, and to change my
voice; for I stand in doubt of
you.
