Uncle to Nephew: Remain Faithful to the Amish Church

June 1, 2010

Dear David,

I have been thinking of you a lot since our visit and my heart is still burdened for you, as I do not feel you would be to face our Lord Jesus. If you would really and truly believe the things the Bible teaches, you would be afraid to live as you do. But I don’t want to judge you, just remind you to search the scriptures with open minds and believe what it says.

You mentioned that you don’t read in the Bible about “ordnung.” Well, probably a lot of it is tradition, but history teaches us over and over that when people leave the church, their children, or maybe more often their grandchildren will not belong to any church. And where do you find a church that observes more of the commandments or ordinances that we can plainly read about, such as feet washing, the woman’s head covering and no outward adornments as we read in I Peter 3:3 and I Timothy 2:9, bann and shunning and not to have communion with open sinners? All of these things we can plainly read about in the Bible. Please study the confession of faith and look up the references.

Most of you have promised to remain faithful to the church, and if you now leave the church and join another one you are covenant breakers, and this is just like leaving one wife and marrying another in God’s eyes.

Well, I hope I didn’t write anything to offend you, much more to welcome you back to the church.

Sincerely, Uncle Mel

To all my Dear Ones in the Amish church, and others who may be searching, God is so pleased when we seek Him and His Kingdom...not a man-made organization. I witnesses something so great last Easter that I will not be able to give many details here, but I go into more depth in my newest book. My Mother, Katie, was born into an Amish home in 1912. She was baptised in the Amish church and married an Amish man. When they found that salvation was by grace and not by works, they were excommunicated. I often heard others accuse my mother of breaking her promise on bended knees. I also heard her patiently explain, over and over that she had asked God's forgiveness, because there is only one Name under heaven, given among men whereby we MUST be saved. (Acts 4:12) that name is Jesus and not some church denomination. I saw the examples of humility, servanthood, forgiveness, and a love for Jesus grow in my mother's life. She took much evil and forgave and forgot. She was so in love with Jesus on her deathbed. She sang about the cross as long as she could sing. Her last song that she sang over and over for 5 minutes was one line from the German hymn..."Hot zien laben fer mich gaben..." Those was some of the last words we heard her say. As she sang 'has his life for me given' there is no quesiton to what she was seeing when she lifted herself heavenward, off her pillow and reached for a world beyond ours. If I do not remain faithful to God and His word, and if my children refuse to live for the Lord, it is NOT BECAUSE SHE LEFT THE AMISH CHURCH. It is a choice that we all make, because she examplified what it took to forgive when being evil spoken of. She showed us by her examples of humility how to serve and love God. Her Savior was the first person she wanted to see in Heaven. What a heritage I have been given. What a gift! I am so blessed to have this godly heritage.

Hello,I was baptized when I was Amish, and I have news for you, I promised to remain faithful to Jesus, (Father Son and Holy Spirit) when I did so, it is wrong to God's eyes, (Thou shalt not worship any other Gods.....) to worship the Church ( the Amish are a cult plain and simple.) I vowed to worship God, Jehovah, and Him alone, Jesus told satan that when He tempted him when he had fasted for 40 days. Please you Amish are way off the Bible, and you know the headcovering is nothing but bondage. You say that the Apostles dies when Paul died, but want to hold a stupit culture of Pauls time and in the same time won't believe when God speaks through a Prophet that is truly of God. Please examine thyselve. and the Bible also says that if you train your child the way of the Lord, Not church, He shall not depart from it. Love in Jesus.

"Thank you for sharing your ministry with us this past Sunday! It was informative, instructional, and inspiring - overall, a great time. God used you to open many eyes to the true spiritual situation among the Amish. Many in our Church Family assumed that Amish people were saved because they will tell you they believe in Jesus. "
