Two people hurt in car vs. buggy crash in Monroe Co. -- CLIFTON, Wis. (WEAU) – Two people are hurt in a car vs. buggy crash in Monroe County.  The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Highway 71 at the intersection of King Road in the Town of Clifton....The buggy over turned in the roadway. Two passengers in the Buggy where injured.

One killed, two injured in buggy crash -- Elhart IN, Marion Yoder, 59, was killed Tuesday when a car crashed into his buggy at the intersection of County Road 38 and County Road 31 around 5:45 p.m. Marion's wife Edith and his grandson Caleb, 8, were also injured in the accident.  Police tell NewsCenter 16 a Buick driven by Joshua Smoker, 34, was traveling east on C.R. 38 when it hit the buggy traveling south on C.R. 31. The family was ejected from the buggy.

PUNXSUTAWNEY, JEFFERSON COUNTY - State police report at 8:46 Thursday along Route T686 a horse pulling a buggy got scared. The horse pulled the buggy off of the road and into an embankment then, overturned.

Amish Teen Seriously Hurt After Elderly Driver Slams Into His Buggy in Webster County

The Seymour Missouri Highway Patrol says an Amish teenager driving a buggy was sent to the hospital this morning after a crash.  It happened on Highway "O", four miles northwest of Seymour in Webster County. Troopers say an SUV driven by an 87 year old man hit the buggy. Eighteen year old Peter Zook was thrown from the buggy. He was seriously injured and flown to a Springfield hospital.

An Amish teenager has died after he was involved in an accident near Seymour last week.  The Missouri Highway Patrol said 18-year-old Peter Zook was declared dead at St. John's Hospital shortly before 5 p.m. Friday.

Man fined for horse-and-buggy crash  --  KITCHENER — A young Listowel man was fined $700 Wednesday after pleading guilty to careless driving in connection with a horrific crash that ejected four family members from a horse-and-buggy in 2010.  Dakota Adams, 20, was facing four criminal charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm. But the prosecutor dropped those charges in Kitchener’s Ontario Court.

Ky. Amish teen killed when SUV strikes buggy  --  CUB RUN, Ky. (AP) - An Amish teenager was killed when the horse-drawn buggy he was driving without a safety reflector was struck from behind by a sport-utility vehicle in south-central Kentucky.  Aaron Byler, 18, of Cub Run was thrown from the buggy by the collision late Thursday afternoon and died while being airlifted to a hospital.

Driver crashes into Amish buggy, distracted by cellphone  --  A Mineral Point man distracted by his cellphone crashed into the rear of an Amish buggy in Grant County Monday night, ejecting all four occupants from the buggy, but no one was seriously hurt, authorities said.  The crash was reported to the Grant County Sheriff's Department at about 7:20 p.m. Monday on U.S. 18 just east of Tormey Road, about two miles east of the village of Fennimore.

SUV hits Amish buggy in NY, killing 2-year-old -- LEON, N.Y. — Authorities say an SUV rear-ended an Amish buggy in southwestern New York, killing a 2-year-old boy and injuring four of his siblings. The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened late Saturday morning in Leon, a small town about 40 miles south of Buffalo.

Manheim teen hurt in buggy crash -- A 16-year-old Manheim boy suffered major injury when a van struck the horse-drawn buggy he was driving in Rapho Township on Sunday morning, police said.  It appeared that extreme glare and blinding from the sun contributed to the 8 a.m. crash, state police at Ephrata reported Tuesday.

MYFOXNY.COM - A car overtaking an Amish horse and buggy in upstate New York slammed into another horse and buggy coming the opposite way, fatally wounding that horse, on Saturday, October 29, 2011, the State Police said. The accident happened on Route 30A, in the Town of Glen, northwest of Albany.

QUINCY, Mich. — A pickup truck has crashed into an Amish buggy in southern Michigan, injuring a man and three children. Authorities in Branch County say the 64-year-old driver of the pickup is suspected of drunken driving. The crash occurred around 6:45 p.m. Sunday.

Car Strikes Horse, Buggy In Neshannock Township

October 13, 2011

NESHANNOCK TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Minor injuries were reported after a horse and buggy carrying a woman and two children was struck by a car in Neshannock Township.

Police said the buggy was on the berm of Route 18 when it was struck by a car being driven by a New Castle woman.

A woman and her two children, ages 3 and 8 months, were in the buggy at the time of the crash. Police said no one was seriously injured.

After the crash, the horse ran from the scene and was corralled a short distance away, police said.

No charges are expected to be filed.

 

4 Amish children hurt in Wis. buggy crash

TOWN OF MARCELLON, Wis.— Four Amish children are seriously hurt after a collision between a buggy and a sport utility vehicle in south-central Wisconsin.

Columbia County sheriff's authorities say the horse and buggy was leaving a country store when the crash happened Thursday morning in the Town of Marcellon.

The four children were thrown from the horse and buggy. Two of the children were flown by Medflight to UW Hospital in Madison with life-threatening injuries. The other two children were taken to Divine Savior Hospital in Portage with serious injuries.

Child killed when car hits horse and buggy
October 1, 2011

A 12-year-old girl is dead after the horse and buggy she was traveling in was struck by a car in St. Mary’s County, police said.

Shortly before 7:40 p.m. Saturday, the driver of an Amish horse and buggy attempted to cross the intersection of Route 5 from Oaks Road to Mount Wolf Road in Charlotte Hall, Md. According to police, the buggy had the green light when the driver began to cross the road, but the light changed to red before the crossing was complete.

2 injured after buggy crash
September 23, 2011

A 42-year-old Stratford man ran into the back of an Amish buggy wagon while driving west on Highway H at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The man stated the sun was in his eyes when he collided with the back of the wagon, being driven by a 27-year-old man and 34-year-old man, both of Loyal.

The buggy rolled into a ditch on the northside of the road, ejecting one of the men and killing a horse, according to Wood County Sheriff’s Department accident report.

On Wednesday, September 21, around 3:30 p.m., a truck rear-ended a horse-drawn buggy just south of Clarissa.

According to the Todd County Sheriff's Office, the buggy was headed south on County Road 11, just south of County Road 84, when it was hit by a 2001 GMC Sonoma. The truck was driven by Jesse Kampsen of Deer Creek.

There were reportedly seven people in the buggy at the time of the accident. A female passenger and her 6-month-old baby were injured. They were taken to Long Prairie Hospital for treatment. Details of their injuries were not reported.

MIDDLEBURY, Ind. — A second child has died and four remain injured after their pony cart was struck by an SUV in the 10500 block of County Road 24 in Middlebury Monday.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, around 10 a.m. the children pulled out onto the road and into the path of the eastbound SUV.

One child, 10-year-old Jenna Miller, died at the scene. And around 5:40 p.m. the sheriff's department confirmed for WSBT that 7-year-old Jolisa Miller died after being airlifted to Parkview Hospital.

PAOLI, IN (WAVE) - Two people were sent to area hospitals after a car collided with an Amish buggy in southern Indiana.

It happened around 9 o'clock Tuesday night on State Road 56 near Lynd Road just east of Paoli in Orange County.

August 30, 2011

Ashland OH: One injury was reported this morning when a southbound pickup truck rear-ended an Amish buggy on U.S. 42 south of County Road 601.

The crash occurred at about 7 a.m.

There were three occupants in the buggy. One was transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries that didn't appear to be life-threatening.

U.S. 42 was closed while the Highway Patrol investigated the crash and the wreckage was cleared. -- Ashland Times Gazzette

Kickapoo, WI (WXOW) -Two people are injured after their horse drawn buggy was hit by a car.

It a happened shortly before 7:30 Thursday morning in the Town of Kickapoo.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff's Department 38-year-old Marny Gillen of Viroqua was traveling on U.S. Highway 14 when she collided into the back of a buggy.

26-year-old Rudy Stutzma and 22-year-old Daniel Stutzma both from Readstown were ejected from the buggy in the crash. Due to the extent of their injuries, both were airlifted to hospitals.

Lancaster PA, Five members of an Amish family were injured when a car collided with their buggy Friday night in Colerain Township, officials said.

The crash happened in the 1500 block of Kirkwood Pike around 9:30 p.m.

"The buggy was rear-ended by the car," Quarryville Fire Company Chief Jamie Welk said.

The buggy was carrying two adults and three children, including an infant, Welk said.

Two people were in the vehicle. They weren't injured.

The most seriously injured were the two Amish adults; one sustained a serious leg injury and the other a gash to the head.

CONGRESS TOWNSHIP, Ohio—


A collision between an Amish farm wagon and a pick-up truck Friday night has claimed the life of an 11-year-old girl.

The wagon, which was pulled by two horses, was traveling southbound on State Route 301 in Wayne County's Congress Township, when it was struck from behind by the truck.

Witnesses said the impact of the collision ejected all four members of the Amish family, who were returning home from a produce auction in Homerville.

Bud Vaughan, who lives near the accident scene, told Fox 8 News, "They were all thrown up in the air. Matter of fact, they thought there were only three of them. They couldn't find the fourth one, the little girl, for a while and she was with the horse, the horse was down."

Sarah Zook, 11, of Wooster, was later pronounced dead at Lodi Hospital.

Hillsdale, Mich. — Michigan State Police (MSP) investigators worked on Jonesville Road Wednesday afternoon trying to reconstruct a Tuesday evening accident that killed Amy Eicher, 58, who was riding in an Amish buggy.

Shaun Stukey, 21, of Hillsdale, came over the top of a hill, just west of Briggs Road, when his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado impacted the rear of the buggy knocking it on its top it into a ditch and killing the horse. Both women in the buggy were thrown into the brush at the side of the road.

The impact occurred about 100 yards from the top of the hill as both vehicles were westbound.

Barren County Kentucky: Members of an Amish family are in the hospital after an accident Wednesday morning in Barren County.

Five people were involved in the crash, including four from the Amish family and the driver of the car.

The Barren County Sheriff's Department says Deborah Edwards, 55, crossed the center line and hit the horse and buggy.

Woman killed in crash between pick-up and buggy

BRANCH COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – State Police are investigating a deadly crash in Branch County involving a horse and buggy.

That crash happened Tuesday night on Jonesville Road near Quincy.

There a pick-up truck crashed into the back of the buggy, killing a woman and injuring her daughter.

The crash happened in an area known for its Amish population, an area where cars and horses and buggies travel and the same road. On Tuesday night, that combination took a deadly turn.

FENNIMORE, Wis: 1 killed, 2 injured when car crashes into Amish buggy

A 17-year-old girl was killed and two people were injured early Monday morning when a car slammed into the Amish buggy they were riding in in Grant County, authorities reported.

Elizabeth Miller of Fennimore was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, on U.S. 18 near County F in the town of Fennimore, according to a news release from the Grant County Sheriff's Department...

Amish Man Seriously Injured When Car Hits Buggy

A car slammed into an Amish buggy Wednesday morning in Wayne County, seriously injuring the horse-drawn buggy's driver.

The Wooster post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says Jonas Schlabach, 32, of Wilmot, was driving the buggy westbound on U.S. 250 in Paint Township, when the car driven by Toby Beachy, 24, of Dundee, rammed into the rear of it.

LaGrange County Indiana—Boy dies after hit by car in his horse drawn cart. Reports say 12-year-old Jonathan Bontrager was in a horse drawn cart on Conuty Road 500 east when a driver fatally hit him.

Authorities say the driver, 36-year old Jeremy Rupkey, looked down at his cell phone and did not see the boy. Bontrager was thrown from the cart.

Rescue crews airlifted him to an area hospital were he was pronounced dead. Rupkey went to jail and is facing a felony O-W-I causing a death charge.

Amish girl killed in buggy accident: An Illinois man is being held at the Christian County Jail after a tractor-trailer he was driving hit a horse-drawn buggy, killing a young Amish girl and injuring three members of her family Friday night on Fort Campbell Boulevard, police said Mark Bohms, 52, is being held for murder, operating a vehicle under the influence, criminal mischief and three counts of assault, according to the Christian County Jail.

A horse-drawn buggy collided with a car Sunday night at 9:15 p.m. in Wilmington, Lawrence County.


The buggy pulled from Beagle Club Road into the path of a car traveling east on State Route 208. Andy Byler, 21, of Volant, and a female, 17, also of Volant, were controlling the reins for the horse pulling the buggy, state police said.

Police reported that Mr. Byler and the buggy's other driver were under the influence of alcohol. Since both were in control of the buggy, each was arrested for DUI and taken to Jameson Hospital for a blood test.

LEACOCK TOWNSHIP, Lancaster County—One person is injured after a flatbed truck crashes into a horse and buggy and then slams into a tree in Lancaster County. It happened just after 9 a.m. along Route 340 in Leacock Township.

The buggy was destroyed and everyone inside was okay.

However, driver of the flatbed truck had to flown to a local hospital for treatment. After the initial collision with the buggy, the flatbed truck crossed into the opposite lane, went through a rock wall and hit a tree. It took firefighters almost an hour to free the victim from the wreckage.

Police are still trying to figure out what caused the crash.

Howard OH—Two Amish teens were injured when the buggy they were in was struck by a box truck in Knox County this evening, the State Highway Patrol said.

The patrol was called to investigate the crash at the intersection of Rt. 62 and Lepley Road near Howard in eastern Knox County at 7:12 p.m.

Both of the teenagers were taken by medical helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus and one eventually went to Nationwide Children's Hospital. One was in serious condition tonight; the condition of the other teen wasn't known.

SALAMANCA, N.Y.—Amish Man Taken To Hospital After Car Hits Buggy In Salamanca.

According to a police report, the Amish man and his two sons were driving on West State Street when a pick-up truck rear-ended the buggy. The driver of the buggy was taken to the hospital. His sons, ages 16 and 17, respectively, were uninjured. The buggy was destroyed.

The driver of the pick-up truck, Richard A. Slaugenhaupt, 45, of 114 First St., Apt. 6, Little Valley, was charged with driving an uninspected vehicle, passing on the left and following too closely. He will be in court later.

Salamanca police officers were assisted at the scene by Cattaraugus County Sheriff's deputies.

The incident is the second in less than a week in which a car rear-ending an Amish buggy led to Amish being taken to the hospital...

Ontario Canada—A horse is dead and a man critically injured after a collision with a car in Norwich Monday. The horse was pulling a buggy and its Amish Mennonite driver west along Airport Road in Norwich Township late Monday afternoon when it was struck head-on by a 2006 Mazda.
