Why a Ministry to the Amish?

Why a ministry to the Amish?

Many have asked that qAmish and the crossuestion, and at times, well meaning people have become angry that a ministry such as Mission to Amish People would even exist. In the eyes of many, the Amish seem peaceful and separated from a world of murder and divorce, and to a large extent, they are right. Crime among the Amish culture is often minimal.

However, as a born again Christian, we know that the Bible is clear; living a good clean life is not enough pay to cover ones sins. Billy Graham once said, "all the goodness in the world will not buy a person one minute of time in heaven".

Having said that, please understand, dear reader, Mission to Amish People is not, and never will be interested in recruiting Amish people to leave their culture and families. We have one simple message:

Jesus Christ alone can save a person from their sins!

It has been my passionate goal from the very beginning to make sure every Amish child and adult has the opportunity to hear the clear and unclouded message of salvation at least one time.

But you say, I know Amish people who are saved. Yes, you could very well be right. There are those who have clear salvation testimonies; however, there are still many who don't, particularly the more conservative groups, who by the way, are the majority. These groups excommunicate and shun anyone who would dare to say a person can be saved and know it. In their eyes, they have to be Amish, look Amish, act Amish, marry Amish and eventually die Amish, if they want to gain merit with God; my wife and I were one of those statistics in 1987. And please understand, so have hundreds of others who have left the Amish culture after they chose to stand on the Word of God, rather than a man-made system of traditions and ordinances.

"Thank you for coming to our mission's conference. We believe this was our best mission's conference in several years. What a blessing it was to hear of your ministry! Our prayer is that our missions giving will increase and we will be able to take part in your ministry financially, but until then, be assured that you are in our prayers."
