2 T. yeast
1 c. warm water
6 c. flour
1 c. scalded milk
1/2 c. margarine
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Dissolve the yeast in the water, mix it with the rest of the ingredients to form a dough. Let the dough rise until double in size; knead and form it into sticks 3-1/2 in. x 1-1/2 in. Let it rise again before frying in hot oil 365.

Cream filling
3 T. flour
1 c. milk
1 c. sugar
1 c. crisco
1 tsp. vanilla
2-1/2 c. confectioner's sugar

To make the filling, cook together the flour and milk till thick paste forms. Cream the sugar and crisco, then add the flour mixture and the vanilla. Cream it well and add the confectioner's sugar. Slit open the top of the cream sticks to fill them. If desired, frost them with the following frosting.

1/2 c. brown sugar
4 T. butter
2 T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 - 1 c. confectioner's sugar

Mix the first three ingredients and let them come to a boil before allowing them to cool. Add the vanilla and enough confectioner's sugar to make the frosting the right spreading consistency.

"Ever since you were here in Ypsilanti, we have been enjoying your letters and we do pray for your group and you as well at leased once a week. We select 2 or 3 missionary prayer cards every morning for our devotions and pray for each one. Thank you again for your devotion to your ministry. It's obvious to us that God has given you a tremendous burden and the STRENGTH to endure."
